A stylish and quick to sew t-shirt with over 27 variations  – this pattern is bound to become a staple in your Handmade Wardrobe…

This super versatile pattern includes 3 different necklines, 3 different sleeve finishes and 3 hem variations with a semi-fitted torso and grown on sleeves.

We calculated – before taking inspiration from any of the pattern hack ideas, you can make over 27 different variations of this pattern! WOW!

So whether you choose the v-neck, long sleeve, curved hem or the scoop neck, cuffed sleeve, tie hem, there will always be another way to sew this pattern over and over. We’re sure it will become one of the hardest working patterns in your Handmade Wardrobe!

You can throw one on with your favourite jeans and trainers, pair with your Action Pack Leggings for a yoga session or dress it up for drinks at the pub.

The 3 by 3 tees pattern can be made in sizes XS-XXL.

  • Using a Simple Tee as a base, this pattern allows you to make over 27 variations using the pattern pieces included! Find out more about all the variations available in this pattern.

  • The Pattern is designed specifically for stretch and jersey fabrics. Single jersey cotton elastane or viscose is a great choice for this make but we’ve also made it velour, scuba jersey, ponti roma and true knit fabrics before so if you love experimenting with new fabrics, this really is the perfect style for it!

You may enjoy learning about the different types of Jersey fabrics on our pre-recorded Live Online Workshop.

  • To make any hem or neckline variation you will need:

    Fabric 150cm / 60" wide:

    XS-M 1m

    L-XXL 1.7m

To make the Long sleeve add 60cm

  • The 3 by 3 Tees can be made in MHW sizes XS – XXL.

It is vitally important, when sewing your own clothes, to take accurate measurements of your body, and not rely on the sizing you expect to buy on the high street. For this pattern we have opted to use sizing XS – XXL, which approximately covers UK sizes 8 – 24. Measure yourself first to choose the right size for you!

  • The Crew Neck is a neat high neck. The neckband piece includes lots of notches to help you match up and stretch on the neckband neatly. We’d recommend this neckline for beginners.

  • The Scoop Neck is a wider more scooped variation. The neckband can be made in a contrast fabric but always try to make sure all fabrics combined have the same stretch and return.

  • The V-neck is a little more advanced, but with our clear photo step-by-step guide, and a little practice, you’ll have no trouble creating a neat and precise finish.

  • The simple Grown-on Sleeve is just long enough to cover the shoulders whilst still looking cute and modern.

  • The addition of a cuff ramps up the modernity and can be added in a contrast fabric and applied in 2 different ways!

  • The Long Sleeve is a variation I’ve been wanting to create for a long time. And now I have, I love it! I’ll be making a full winter wardrobe of these!

  • The Curved Hem is longline and easy to wear tucked in or over your jeans - or with our recently launched wrap skirt pattern.

  • The Tie Hem is a cute, fun variation. After a number of RTW tie-front tee fails (too short, too tight, too loose, too floppy) we’ve made sure the t-shirt front is still plenty long enough to avoid any tummy flashing and the ties are substantial enough to be tied loosely or tighter and not look like droopy dog ears whichever way you choose to wear it.

  • The Twist Hem is a nod to a trend we just had to include. This variation is designed to be worn a little tighter (so you may wish to size down, rather than up) and it suits fabrics with some weight and substance like polyester peachskin jersey, ponti roma and cotton elastane jersey. It looks really cool styled with high waisted jeans.
